Dr. Marcia Alesan Dawkins is a Senior Research Scientist at CCL, where she translates research to all audiences through media; infuses Equity, Diversity & Inclusion into research strategy; and leads projects that find new connections and synergies between ideas and data-driven solutions.
Marcia is a leading expert in equity and strategic communication. She has published research on how social identity, technology, and creative culture are changing who we are and how we work in outlets such as the International Journal of Communication.
Her first book, Clearly Invisible, was nominated for the Grawemeyer Award. Her research has been recognized by the Social Science Research Council, the National Communication Association, the Eastern Communication Association, and the NAACP. Her perspectives have been featured in media outlets such as BBC World, NPR, AOL Originals, ABC News, HuffPo Live, and a number of podcasts.
Before joining us, Marcia was a professor of Communication, corporate educator, and columnist.
Marcia has a PhD and MA in Communication from the University of Southern California, an MA in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University, and a BA in Communication from Villanova University.
Marcia is a member of the National Communication Association and the International Communication Association.
